The Wild Strawberry is a charming conversion of one of Keswick’s oldest properties into a cosy cafe / crêperie with plenty of vegan options on the menu. A stone floor, exposed beams and slate tables give it a rustic charm while large windows keep it feeling light and open.
Their current menu (Aug 2020) contains three savoury pancakes available as vegan options – mixed breakfast, sausage and onion or five bean chilli. You can also choose these fillings on a jacket potato if you’d prefer.
The only sweet pancake option for vegans is lemon and sugar. It’s a bit of a shame they can’t offer others (maple or agave syrup perhaps?) However, they do have a vegan brownie on the menu and the website promises vegan ice-cream as well.
All pancakes can be made with buckwheat if you want a gluten-free option.
We haven’t visited Wild Strawberry yet, but we’ll stop in on our next trip to Keswick and provide a more thorough account then.
